The city of Katy is located about 28 miles to the east of Houston at the intersection of three Texas counties: Fort Bend County, Harris County, and Waller County. This former railroad hub and agricultural center got its name from the “KT” portion of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, and has grown into one of the more progressive and affluent cities in the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. Katy is often referred to as “Old Katy,” to differentiate it from the Greater Katy area that surrounds the city.
